EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Mission of Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited is to provide quality water and sanitation services to customers in Lusaka Province using commercially and environmentally sustainable strategies. In order to achieve this, the Company must have a human capital of dynamic and energetic staff who are performance driven and who possess the requisite competencies. In this regard, the Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced Zambians for the under-listed five vacant positions.

 

SENIOR NETWORKS ADMINISTRATOR

REPORTS TO:    Manager – Information Communication and Technology

LOCATION:        Lusaka

Job purpose       

To design, implement, test and carry out maintenance of software systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Designs and develops software systems as directed by the project budget and methodology.
  2. Tests newly developed programs to ensure that logic and syntax are correct, and that program results are accurate.
  3. Documents all system codes and logic on the projects assigned and responsible for system implementation.
  4. Ensures that all developed softwares are consistently upgraded to address new challenges.
  5. Regularly releases upgrades for available systems to address technology changes and gaps and carries out all assignments as given by supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • School Certificate
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science/ ICT or equivalent.
  • Certifications in CISA, CISSP will be an added advantage.
  • Four years working experience in Software development

OTHER ATTRIBUTES FOR THIS POSITION

  • Must have experience, knowledge and ability to build applications based on fourth generation programming languages.
  • Must have experience, knowledge and ability to build mobile applications based on Android, iOS and Windows Platforms.
  • Must have experience and knowledge of fourth generation languages.
  • Must be able to produce documentation, reports and design plans.
  • Must be enthusiastic and goal-oriented, with the ability to work in teams.
  • Must be efficient, dependable and professional.
  • Must demonstrate sound analytical thinking and be able to meet project deadlines.
  • Must have demonstrable skills in software integration services and the zeal to continue to learn about industry trends and developments.
  • Must be able to develop different application programming interface known as API so as to support different integration functionalities.
  • Must ensure usability, robustness, and general reliability of developed application programs.
  • Must have experience and knowledge in Microsoft Visual Studio.net framework, C Sharp (C#), ASP.Net, Entity framework, PHP, MS SQL server.

 

 

LEGAL OFFICER

 REPORTS TO:    Company Secretary 

LOCATION:        Lusaka

Job purpose  

 To provide legal advice and services in order to safeguard the interests of the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Advises the line manager on legal matters affecting the Company’s operations.
  2. Undertakes litigation brought against third parties.
  3. Handles conveyancing in respect of transfer or acquiring of Company property.
  4. Prepares and develops standard contractual documents.
  5. Receives and interprets statutes that affect or impact the operations of the Company, and render opinions and advice accordingly.
  6. Provides technical support during negotiations and in preparation of contracts.
  7. Carries out any other duties as may be delegated by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. School Certificate
  2. LLB Degree from a reputable university
  • Valid Practicing Certificate
  1. Advocate of the High Court of Zambia
  2. Three (03) years post qualification experience in a similar position.

 

 

PROCUREMENT OFFICER

REPORTS TO:                    Procurement Specialist 

LOCATION:                        Lusaka under the Lusaka Sanitation Program

CONTRACT TERMS:       Contractual for Non-LWSC Employees                                                                                                                                                                     

Job purpose   

To assist the Procurement Specialist in planning and coordinating procurement activities on all projects under the Infrastructure Development Division, ensuring transparency and economy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in the preparation of the annual procurement plan in the form specified by the international financing institutions (IFIs) such as the World Bank, the EIB, the AFDB and KfW.
  2. Assists in the implementation and monitoring of progress of all planned procurement activities.
  3. Prepares solicitation documents in the format required by the IFIs and advertises invitations for bids.
  4. Prepares evaluation reports in readiness for submission to LWSC Management and the IFIs for clearance.
  5. Prepares procurement committee papers for submission to the LWSC Procurement Committee.
  6. Drafts and issues contracts, terms and conditions and Schedules, and ensures effective management of contracts.
  7. Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for all procurement activities undertaken.
  8. Ensures that all procurement transactions are well documented and up to date.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing and Supply, Production Management, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering Law; or equivalent.
  2. Graduate Diploma in Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
  • A minimum of at least 3 years’ experience managing procurements, preferably for Government and/ or internationally financed projects.
  1. Must have significant training and practical experience in procurement within the National Public Procurement or internationally financed projects. He or she must have a sound understanding of procurement guidelines and procedures applying to World Bank, Zambia Public Procurement Authority and/ or internationally financed projects.
  2. Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply with a valid ZIPS practicing certificate.

 

STORES ASSISTANT

REPORTS TO:    Stores Officer 

LOCATION:        Lusaka

Job purpose 

Raises purchase requisitions for stock items and ensures that accurate and up to date inventory records are maintained.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Initiates purchase requisitions for materials that have reached re-order level.
  2. Conducts physical verification of materials against suppliers’ documents and purchase orders.
  3. Receives materials from suppliers as specified on purchase orders and contracts.
  4. Issues materials to user departments as per approved stock requisitions.
  5. Ensures that appropriate documentation is maintained and that all records are updated.
  6. Carries out any other duties as may be delegated by the supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Diploma CIPS Foundation stage or equivalent.
  2. Two (2) years’ experience in Stores management.
  • Computer literacy

 

 

OFFICE ASSISTANT

REPORTS TO:    Head – Human Resources Operations

LOCATION:        Lusaka

Job purpose  

Ensures that internal and external documents and mails are ferried and delivered to their recipients and destinations in a timely, efficient and effective manner, and photocopies, stores or disposes of various Company documents as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Must have a minimum of Grade Twelve Certificate or equivalent
  2. Should possess at least two (2) years work experience
  3. Certificate in Records Management will be an added advantage
  4. Computer literate
  5. Should have good etiquette and public presentation skills.
  6. Physical agility is required.
